Rampton Village Hall Reopening from 6th July 2020
The Government has laid out its recovery plans and the re-opening of public buildings is scheduled to take place Monday the 6th July, this includes Rampton Village Hall.
There are lots of measures that need to be put in place to adhere to the Covid 19 restrictions:-
- Minimise contact with individuals who are unwell: Nobody should attend the premises if they have symptoms or are self-isolating due to symptoms in their household.
- Clean your hands often: Sanitiser or soap and water should be provided at entry and exit points, sanitiser and/or running water, soap and paper towels in toilets and kitchens.
- Respiratory hygiene: Everyone needs to be encouraged to avoid touching their mouth, eyes, and nose. Tissues need to be disposed of into a bin, then hands cleaned. A "Catch it, Bin it, Kill it" poster has been put up.
- Regular cleaning of surfaces that are touched frequently: including door handles, handrails, table tops, sinks, toilet areas, kitchen surfaces.
- Maintain social distancing where possible: Social distancing guidelines currently require at least 2 metres (3 steps) to be maintained between individuals and groups of up to 2 households where possible and, where not possible, 1 metre plus other mitigation measures. Bookings can be accepted for events where social distancing can be maintained and contacts below 2m are minimised and transitory.
- At an event, individual household groups are advised not to interact with anyone outside the group they attend with, i.e. in a group no larger than 2 households. For example, if a family quiz is held, people from a group of 2 households may sit at the same table; those from different household groups would need to be seated at tables a minimum of 2m apart, with a total number of 20 people allowed in our hall.
As you can see these measures mean all the large gatherings that we have like Bingo and Whist are not manageable at the moment. Plus particular care is needed to ensure that social distancing is maintained for any persons aged 70 or over or likely to be clinically more vulnerable to COVID-19, including for example keeping a 2m distance around them when going in and out of rooms and ensuring they can access the toilets, kitchen or other confined areas without others being present. For some people, passing another person in a confined space is less risky, but for older people that should be avoided. The Yoga and Pilates teachers are not in a position to come back to the hall and they continue to use online classes. More »

Welcome to Ranskill, a rural village and civil parish of some 2500 people in the Bassetlaw district of Nottinghamshire, approximately 5 miles north of the market town of Retford. Ranskill dates back to the Danish invasions of the 9th century and the name derives from 'Ravenskelf' which meant 'shelving knoll or ridge of the raven'.
The village features St Barnabas Church, built in 1878. Also placed in the centre of the village is the Reading Room, built in 1891 by the Gillott family as a library and reading room for residents but which is now a place where snooker, billiards, pool and darts are played.
During the Second World War and until 1975, there was a Royal Ordnance factory for the manufacture of munitions on the outskirts of Ranskill. The East Coast Main Line railway passes to the east of the village, which originally had its own station but which is now served by Retford and by Doncaster in South Yorkshire to the north.
Although in North Nottinghamshire, Ranskill lies close to the borders with South Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire and is within easy reach of Doncaster, Sheffield and Lincoln. It is ideally located for the coast and for Clumber Park and Sherwood Forest and it isn’t far to the Peak District.
The village has a thriving community of friendly people with a great village pub in the Blue Bell, good facilities, lots of societies and organisations and an annual Village Festival. All in all, it’s a good place to be!

Coronavirus and miscarriage: your care
On this page, we share information on how the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic is impacting access to hospital services for those who are pregnant or experiencing a miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy or molar pregnancy, current information for those thinking about trying to conceive and for those awaiting investigations.
Last updated: 18 May 2020
We all know that the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic is having a major impact on many lives and especially on access to healthcare. NHS services need to focus on the most ill and most vulnerable people and we are all being asked to avoid using GP, community or hospital services as much as possible. This helps us to protect NHS patients, the staff caring for them, ourselves and each other.
Early pregnancy and maternity services are no different, so we hope the following information helps you to understand the impact this might have on anyone affected by pregnancy loss.
Access to hospital services for people who are currently pregnant or experiencing a miscarriage, ectopic or molar pregnancy
With increased pressure on the NHS due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, most early pregnancy units are having to limit the service they provide:
- to minimise the risk of exposure to the virus for people coming into a hospital environment
- to reduce the risk of spread within the hospital and
- because of reduced staff numbers caused by sickness, self-isolation and because of staff being moved to different departments, such as emergency care.
Wendy and Barry describe their experience of having a miscarriage during the coronavirus pandemic, with reduced access to hospital services.
However, anyone who needs emergency care for severe pain, very heavy vaginal bleeding, possible ectopic or molar pregnancy or other acute symptoms will still be seen and assessed in person, either by the specialist team or in the Accident and Emergency Department.
New information from the RCOG on early pregnancy care
The Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) has published a guide to early pregnancy services during the coronavirus pandemic. While it focuses mainly on women and couples in the first twelve weeks of pregnancy, it is equally helpful for anyone who is not yet booked with a midwife or an antenatal clinic.
Ultrasound scans
There are very likely to be limits on ultrasound scans and most hospitals will allow only the woman being scanned to attend her appointment. Some will allow use of a mobile or smartphone for part of the appointment so that the partner or other supporter can take part remotely but that will depend on the individual hospital’s policy This can be very distressing, we know.
Miscarriage management
There will be fewer non-emergency surgical procedures under general anaesthetic, so women with a missed or incomplete miscarriage or a ‘blighted ovum’ or anembryonic pregnancy are more likely to be offered only natural (expectant) or medical management of miscarriage at home rather than being treated in hospital. We provide more detailed information about these options and what they mean for you on this page. And Amy shares her experience of medical management during lockdown here.
Ectopic pregnancy assessment and management
Ectopic pregnancy is a potentially life-threatening condition, so early assessment and treatment are crucial and access to care should remain as normal. See here for more information.
Molar pregnancy diagnosis and management
With fewer women having surgical management, it may take longer for some molar pregnancies to be diagnosed, so it’s very important to contact the hospital if a pregnancy tests is still positive 3 weeks after your loss. But once molar pregnancy has been diagnosed, care and follow-up will be as normal. You’ll find more information on our molar pregnancy pages, starting here.
If you are pregnant or currently experiencing a loss
If you need urgent advice regarding your pregnancy, you are encouraged to telephone your local Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit or Emergency Gynaecology Unit, or your midwife or antenatal clinic if you are already booked with them. It’s important to be as clear as possible about your symptoms or worries to help staff to assess your needs and advise on next steps. Please be assured that if you need emergency care for severe pain, very heavy vaginal bleeding, suspected ectopic pregnancy or other acute symptoms, then you will be assessed in person and seen accordingly.
If you are not pregnant, but planning on trying for a baby
The Association of Early Pregnancy Units suggests that you consider waiting until the pandemic is over before trying to conceive. This is to minimise the burden on the health service, to ensure you have full access to early pregnancy and maternity care and because it is too soon to fully understand the effect of the virus in pregnancy. But everyone’s circumstances differ and this will always be your decision.
If you are waiting investigations following recurrent or second trimester miscarriage
Investigations into the possible causes of recurrent miscarriage or late loss are currently suspended in most hospitals, but there are plans to reintroduce them gradually over the next few weeks. As with other services, this will depend on the availability of specialist staff, some of whom have been diverted to other areas of care during the pandemic.
Information, guidance and support
The Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) has general up to date information and guidance on pregnancy and Coronavirus at www.rcog.org.uk/en/guidelines-research-services/guidelines/coronavirus-pregnancy/covid-19-virus-infection-and-pregnancy/.

Introducing a new ambassador for the M.A.
7th July 2020
We are delighted to welcome our new ambassador, former Strictly professional, Natalie Lowe!
Natalie begins her new role in our team with a very special announcement about our new and exciting fundraising challenge, Miles That Matter.
Our goal is to raise £25,000 to fund our helpline for 100 days. We also hope to raise awareness of the impact of pregnancy loss and to encourage people to make use of the Miscarriage Association’s support and information services.
Natalie has shared a video to explain more about the fundraiser and what it means to her.
I’m going to be pulling on my trainers and I’d love you to be part of Team M.A., too.
We’re really looking forward to working with Natalie, on Miles That Matter and more. We’re so grateful for her support.

25th March 2020 To all Parents, Carers and Young People, We know that this current situation is very unusual and we appreciate that for many, this uncertainty brings anxiety, worries and questions about everyday life, especially for those with SEND. Our team are continuing to work as normal, with our advisers operating from their own homes to keep the AskUs Nottinghamshire service running as usual. However, to maintain the safety of both our colleagues and customers, all advice, guidance and support is now being delivered by telephone, or other digital methods, rather than through face-to-face sessions. Our helpline is open 24 hours a day. Please leave a message and our advisers will try to get back to you within two working days where possible. Please do keep in mind that while we are doing our best to keep up with the increased demands for our services at this time, there may be a delay in our advisers getting back to you, but we will. Please note, the helpline number (0800 121 7772) can be used for all enquiries, including support with accessing mediations and tribunals. Helpline Wednesday 1pm-5pm only New information is being published daily and our advisers are trying to keep up to date with changes to SEND processes. Please refer to The Council for Disabled Children’s website for a list of resources and guidance about coronavirus. This page will be kept under review and new resources added to the categories as they become available. https://councilfordisabledchildren.org.uk/news-opinion/news/covid-19-support-and-guidance We would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the hard work of public services, who are working hard to meet the needs of those children and young people with SEND who are most vulnerable and who are overcoming additional challenges that these circumstances bring, to continue to provide essential services.AskUs Nottinghamshire’s Response to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Situation

Support from Ask Us Nottinghamshire
As a result of the Children and Families Act 2014, every Local Authority has to provide a free, confidential Information, Advice and Support Service, to give impartial advice, information and support across education, health and social care issues to parents and carers of children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) living in the area. Children and young people with SEND can also use the service.
If you are preparing to move into Nottingham or the county of Nottinghamshire, we will be more than happy to answer any questions you have and support you as you make the transition between local authorities.
You do not need to have a medical diagnosis of your child’s needs in order to take advantage of our service, but on your first contact with us you will be asked to describe how your child’s difficulties impact on their education as this will help us to know how best we can support you. You just need to provide us, in your own words, with a picture of how your child’s needs affect their life at home, in school and in the community.
We can offer you support to:
- Find a suitable school for your child
- Understand the different ways the school will support your child
- Build and maintain a good working relationship with school staff
- Be fully involved in decisions made about your child’s education
- Resolve problematic situations
- Make a complaint to the school governors when a difficult situation is unable to be resolved
- Understand and set in motion statutory processes where your child has very high-level needs
- Ensure that you are informed about and involved in those processes
- Access independent appeals where other means of resolving disagreement have been exhausted
- Resolve issues around school exclusion
…and with other education-related issues.
The depth of support we offer depends on your needs. It could be a single phone call to the helpline, where we listen and talk through your current difficulties with you, or it might be that you need a series of in-depth meetings to help you to fill out paperwork or support you through a complex issue. Some parents contact us just occasionally, to ask about something that has arisen in school, while others remain in close contact over a longer period of time, perhaps having individual support from a caseworker for up to a year.

Why we exist
Drug and alcohol addiction affects people from all walks of life and the reasons behind it can be complex. Research is now showing that in many cases it is a response to childhood trauma or difficult life events. Our service users have often lost their home, their health, their job, family, friends, confidence and hope – people can remain caught up in a vicious cycle of addiction, problems, shame and guilt . Our experience of delivering local services and projects since 1998 has resulted in a passionate belief that addiction doesn’t need to destroy lives – with the right support at the right time, people can and do recover to become ‘better than well’, able to take up their place in society and be excellent citizens, parents, family members and employees.
By supporting individuals, we benefit the community; in turn, we rely on the community for our successes. You can make a difference as a business or employer through the power of partnership; as a donor or fundraiser to help us reach farther; or as a volunteer selflessly supporting our services.

You can find more information on the BACP website about their Ethical Framework
Psychotherapy, or talk therapy, is a way to help people with a broad variety of mental illnesses and emotional difficulties. Psychotherapy can help eliminate or control troubling symptoms so a person can function better and can increase well-being and healing.
Problems helped by psychotherapy include difficulties in coping with daily life, the impact of trauma, medical illness or loss, like the death of a loved one, and specific mental disorders, like depression or anxiety. There are several different types of psychotherapy and some types may work better with certain problems or issue. Psychotherapy may be used in combination with medication or other therapies.
Psychotherapy can be short-term(a few sessions), dealing with immediate issues, or long-term (months or years), dealing with longstanding and complex issues. The goals of treatment and arrangements for how often and how long to meet are planned jointly by the patient and therapist.
Access to Service
Our service is available across the county using digital platforms and telephone. Face to face sessions are available in Mansfield and Worksop. Daytime, evening and weekend appointments are available to suit your needs.
We can work with clients aged 18 and over through self-referral, a GP referral or through other agencies that support you.
Assessment
In a telephone conversation, our coordinator will ask you about your personal circumstances and what is causing you concern. This will help determine if our service is right for you.
At the assessment, you will be asked about your current situation, past experiences, a brief medical history and how you hope to benefit from counselling. If we cannot provide the correct help for you at this time we will do our best to find alternative support.
After the assessment, you will be placed on our waiting list. If you would like any further information about our Counselling Service please contact our main office on 0800 470 0203 and speak to our team for more information.
Digital Support
New Digital Services
Peer support services have been a part of Nottinghamshire Mind for many years now and provide a platform for individuals to share experiences and build support networks, this has proven to improve emotional health, wellbeing and a sense of belonging for both those who deliver and receive support.
Through the current pandemic we’ve encouraged members old and new to take part in our ever growing platform or digital services, empowering some to try something new for the very first time.
At present we offer app based peer support sessions daily Monday to Thursday.
You’ll have the opportunity to feel part of a community, share experiences, feelings and thoughts and build friendships, all of which will promote and support you to maintain positive wellbeing.
Our use of the GroupMe app allows our recovery coaches to promote ideas and approaches that may be helpful to you, such as relaxation tips, exercises, talking therapies and near crisis planning. We also use these session to provide creativity and fun with our Quiz – keeping the brain active , Photography sessions – sharing snaps to brighten your day ….. and much more.
Our Information sessions can also take place digitally on a 1-1 basis should you require a little more support, sessions take place over zoom and allow you the chance to see and communicate with one of our recovery coaches.
Sessions are 30 minute and you don’t need to have your camera switched on but you’ll be able to see our recovery coach, we feel this helps build a better relationship for the client.
If you are interested in any of the services above please contact one of our recovery coaches.

COVID19 update 13th August 2020 - Unfortunately we will not be meeting for the forseeble future due to the coronavirus situation. As soon as we can we will start meeting again. If you would like notified when this happens leave a message on the contacts page or call 01777 704154. The Choir has been 'meeting' on zoom to keep singing alive while we cannot be together. We have produced a Youtube video of us singing virtually as a record of the lockdown. Click link below.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NWGQp1D6HLc
Singing is fun, sociable and good for your health. If you are looking for something different to do, why not give us a try. Having a good sing on a Tuesday evening could be just what you need. We are a big friendly group and we make a great noise together, but we don't have the pressure of preparing for performances which you will find in other choir.
We are a lively choir for men and women of all ages who want to sing for pleasure. The choir was formed in September 2012 with the aim of providing opportunities for anyone from the local community to sing, regardless of musical experience, age or background and to meet other singers in a friendly and supportive atmosphere.
We sing, unaccompanied and in harmony, a wide variety of songs drawn from folk, pop, gospel and world music - in fact anything with a good harmony. Learning is by listening and repetition using Natural Voice methods www.naturalvoice.net
There is no need to read music and no musical knowledge is required, though if you have some, that’s great. The result is a rich, enthusiastic sound but the emphasis is very much on singing for enjoyment rather than for polished performance.
Look for us on Face Book.
Come along to one of our Tuesday evening sessions.
We start at 7.30pm in termtime at St Joseph's Church Hall, Babworth Road, Retford, DN22 7BP. (the Hall is located between the Church and the School)

Opening Hours: Monday - Friday 08.00 am - 8.00 pm Saturday 09.00 am - 5.00pm
The service supports Victims and survivors to be resilient and in doing so are less likely to be re-victimised; empowered to cope and recover from crime and anti-social behaviour by timely and effective victim-centred support from local services, families and communities.
Victims do not have to report a crime to access the service. Victims of both recorded and self-reported crime are tracked at all points in their journey and given access to information, practical support and advice and where appropriate, referral to ‘cope, recover and empowerment’ support services in their local communities.
Victim CARE ensures that the support will be victim-centred and outcome focussed. It will ensure that the needs of the victim are considered and supported at every stage of the criminal justice process.
The service is provided by a team of experienced professional case workers, giving one to one support to victims of crime and ASB. The team is supported by a committed and highly trained team of volunteers. The aim is to improve victims’ experience with the criminal justice system and associated support services.
Types of support
Victims of crime and anti-social behaviour benefit from enhanced help and support with a new-style service, designed around the needs of victims to help them cope and recover from their experience and empower them to become more resilient
- Tailored emotional and practical support, advocacy and restorative justice determined through a ‘needs assessment’, focusing on the level of harm caused by the crime and the vulnerability of the victim.
- A dedicated Caseworker providing one to one support to each victim, making it less stressful for them and reducing the number of times they are asked to tell their story
- Access to restorative justice services arranged by the Caseworker, which could include facilitating dialogue with a person with a conviction. Restorative justice brings those harmed by crime or conflict and those responsible for the harm into communication, enabling everyone affected by a particular incident to play a part in repairing the harm and finding a positive way forward.

During these unsettling times, you may have health and wellbeing concerns about your baby or young child and be unsure how to get the help you need.
Parentline is a confidential text messaging service for parents and carers across Nottinghamshire.
The texting service is an easy way for parent and carers of children aged 0 – 19 years to confidentially ask for help about a range of issues, such as:
- feeding and nutrition
- child development
- parenting advice and support
- emotional health and wellbeing
- behaviour difficulties
- family health
You can contact the Healthy Family Team and find out how to access other local services for example, School Health Team, breastfeeding support or health visitor led sessions.
Parents and carers can contact the text messaging service for advice from Monday to Friday 9.00am - 4.30pm excluding bank holidays. Messages sent to the dedicated number are delivered to a secure website, and responded to by the Healthy Family Team. Texts are usually replied to within one working day. Automatic replies will be sent to any messages received out of hours explaining where to get help if their question is urgent, and when they can expect a response.
We are pleased to be able to offer Parentline to parents and carers in the County. It will make accessing health services easier and more accessible, increasing our reach to all families, and creating another platform for parents and carers to connect.

Mail Preference Service
The MPS is here to make your choice known - so you get the mail you want and need.
The Mailing Preference Service (MPS) is a free service set up in 1983 and funded by the direct mail industry to enable consumers to have their names and home addresses in the UK removed from lists used by the industry. It is actively supported by the Royal Mail and all directly involved trade associations and fully supported by The Information Commissioners Office (ICO).
UK consumers generate millions of pounds of postal sales per year, the majority welcome the information and special offers they receive by post. However, some people might take a different view.
If you have suffered a bereavement or just want to stop unsolicited mail register with the MPS

b:friend & COVID-19: Older neighbours need our support now more than ever. Become a telephone befriender to check-in on those that are vulnerable. Register today.
Since inception, b:Friend has created, delivered and evaluated hundreds of hours of community social group activity in Doncaster.
b:Friend has an effective blueprint for social groups for older adults focusing on venue, budgeting, marketing to the most isolated individuals and session planning methodology over (usually) a 48-week year.
Each group activity is different… and they’re certainly not boring. From shaking-up Bond-style mocktails, performing street-dance routines, designing Christmas cards, making bird boxes, chocolate tasting sessions and jiving to Bollywood-inspired music… members are exploring new horizons and getting out of their comfort zone each week.
The Five Ways to Wellbeing model forms a clear framework with which b:Friend co-design all group activities. Our Social Clubs ensure attendees are: connected to others through conversation and activity; active through physically engaged sessions; continue to learn through engaging talks, discuss topics of the day and take note of others around them; while giving time, support and attention to others.
